Fender colors and resale value

I was thinking of purchasing a new Fender Professional model jazz bass. Was wondering about resale value on colors. I like the modern look of the sonic grey but, will a color like that be harder to sell down the road vs. the timeless sunburst?

Doesn't everyone have to own a bass with sunburst color at least once in their lives?

I don't have any stats, but Fender fans seem to like Custom Colors at least as much as the ubiquitous sunburst.

I would imagine Sunburst would be a harder sell, as they're so common. I would think a more unusual color would catch more interest, especially a limited, custom color. But not everybody thinks like me.

Having said that, the new colors on the Fender Professionals don't really do much for me.
Yea I agree on the new color pallet overall but the grey isn't bad.

My personal opinion: No stats to back this up, but my guess is the burst/natural colors will sell about as well as the solid paint. I, for one, will never own a sunburst guitar or bass. I think it looks horrendous and outdated. I definitely see tons of them on the market all the time. I will skip past any bass with a burst finish regardless of price, condition, brand, etc....its that big of a turnoff for me.

To each their own, though.

I don't think certain colors will fetch a premium price but they may sell quicker than a white, burst or black bass. Charcoal Frost, Blizzard Pearl and Sunset Orange come to mind. These don't pop-up often and when they do, they seem to sell pretty quickly.

The market is saturated with white, back and burst basses. They are top sellers but if you decide to sell yours, you will have a lot of competition.

Years ago I picked one up in the "blizzard pearl" color.
I hated the color, but the price was a steal so I couldn't refuse.
When I sold it, it took longer to sell and went for a lower price than I have ever experienced for any traditional color I have ever sold.
