Hi. I am looking for a little insight into a problem I am having with my Fender Rumble 500 combo amp.
When I plug straight into the amp with my passive Fender J or P basses I love, love, love everything about the amp. But occasionally, I will put a Boss bass overdrive pedal before the amp input for overdrive/distortion. (I am not thrilled with the amps built in overdrive sound). When I do this, after about 30 minutes, the amp tone changes drastically-becomes very trebly and thin and loses bottom end, then the amp cuts out. No sound, but the power light remains on. If I turn the power switch off and then back on, the tone and sound return to normal.
My Gain and Master knobs are both at 11 o’clock. I can play for hours with the same settings without an overdrive pedal plugged in with absolutely no issues. Is it possible
that the output from the Boss overdrive pedal is too much for the amp input and is causing the amp circuitry to overload? Will lowering the Gain knob on the amp help?
