I just got this bass back together after doing the following wiring. It is supposed to be push/pull on volumes going series/parallel. I wired like the diagram shows. The only problem is that when I pull up on the volume pots, it completely mutes that pickup. When they pots are pushed down, the bass functions as it should. As does the 3 way and the tones. when both pickups are on, either volume works as a master. The green is the (+) on these pickups and the black is (-). it is possible something could have come loose on the reassembly, so keep that in mind when you are troubleshooting my work.

Why is it muting when the pot is pulled up? It took forever to get back together so I don't want to break it down again without a certain answer. these semi-hollows are a bear to work on.

My first thought is that you've got the wrong polarity on one of the coils.
Swap the red & white wires & you should be golden.
Assuming your pickups are S.D's.

Here's S.D.'s example:

that may be it. another variance I'm seeing (and I know too little to know if it's a problem) is the pins with the jumper. I have a jumper between the 2 "bottom" pins. a lot of schematics have the jumper going from a "bottom" to the opposite "middle" pin. could this be the problem beyond the polarity of the red/white wires?

(in fact, I changed the SD schematic I have to the one I posted with that jumper because of a schematic I found on this forum about starcaster series/parallel wiring. Maybe I should have stuck with the original SD schematic and only swapped the green and black due to their reverse polarity....)
