Hi everyone! I'm new to talkbass and this is my first post. I just got my new super bassman 300 out of the box and the fender automatic bias is blinking all green lights indicating that the tubes are old and need replacing. Being that this is a new head, wouldn't the tubes be good? Although, it has decent power, it does seem like it should have a bit more. This is actually my first tube amp so it is new to me. Has anybody else had this problem? What would you advise, please?

Welcome to Talk Bass!

I would get up with Fender in the morning. If this is a new amp....
1) They will know what to tell you to do to get it working properly or...
2) It's a warranty issue and they (or whatever vendor you bought it from) should make it right.

Just to state the obvious, it should do this until you take it out of standby then wait another 30 odd seconds without playing while the bias kicks in. I doubt that the tubes are old, but there were originally some issues with the autobias (although very few with the Super Bassman as compared to the Bassman 100T).
Two Fingers is right, it is a warranty issue and I expect an easy fix.
There is a long running thread on the Super Bassman, if you look at the earlier posts you will find some references to this issue:

I know this is a zombie thread but I had this issue with my SB.

Found that after load in my speaker switch was turned off leaving the amp in standby mode until the speaker switch was turned on. Blinking green lights and all.

Maybe this could help out in future trouble shooting.

Not sure what you mean by "after load" here.....??? Are you referring to the speaker mute switch???

We call load in the time we bring our gear to the venues stage. Like a 8:00 load in. I should have been more clear that it was from a gig.

While moving the SB from the trunk of my car to the stage, I must have hit the speaker mute switch. Turned on the amp, let it warm up, turned standby off, and the bias lights were blinking as if the standby switch was still engaged.

I actually have the manual on my phone and checked what it meant in that state. Saw the speaker mute switch was engaged and switched it up.

All good. Felt pretty stupid after that one.

Ah, it all makes sense. I must have read your post with my idiot hat on:rolleyes:.. In my defense I was mildly hungover after discovering a wonderful drink called the sidecar....:)
