Double Bass Finale Carbon Fiber Bow Brown Weave

Hi,

I heard very good reviews of the Finale bow and ordered one yesterday. I ordered the brown carbon fiber weave. They stated that it was a slightly different material than the black- that it was a bit stiffer. I was wondering if anyone had experience with both and what they thought in comparison to each other.

I owned one of the original black Finale bows for a few years and loved it. Great bow. I'm about to buy another one and was thinking about getting the brown one, so I'll be curious as well to see if anybody has tested both.

I just ordered a brown finale today. Looks like they will be out of stock on the finale cases for quite a while so they substituted a string emporium case instead. I will report back once I've received the bow and played it a while.

The bow came in today, I've only looked at it haven't had time to play with it.
Not nearly as brown as I hoped. Very dark, almost thought they sent me a regular carbon fiber weave until I put it under alot of light.

Yes, I found it was darker than expected but I think it is a nice looking bow. I've only used a wooden student-grade bow so I can only compare it to that. My impression over the last two weeks is favorable.

I was a little disappointed at first- I thought that my sound was better with the wood bow but I soon realized that the Finale has its own characteristics and I needed to adjust. I found that with practice, I've been able to get a very nice sound- brighter than my wood bow and a more clear tone. It's different than the woody sound but I was able to bring the sound of the bow out- different but very pretty.

The biggest difference was in the handling. The notes are quick to start and I feel much better control with the Finale. I have a feeling my sound will even improve more with practice and when I get more familiar with it. The sound is different- brighter, a little less bottom (I know this is not exactly the forum to make this comparison but it reminds me of the difference between a precision and jazz bass- different sound but both nice and up to personal preference).

Hopefully someone who used the black Finale could share if their experience was similar...

After spending alot of time with the bow I can safely say I like it alot. Would recommend. Like the balance and tone alot.
I find it hard to believe that the brown would differ that much from the other options offered, but, since I've only used the brown can't say for sure.
