I'm not sure that this is the right section to post this in....

Finger Ease? I've used it religiously on my electrics and it really helps move up and down the neck quickly. In the acoustic world the product isn't embraced because we're all afraid of getting gunk in the windings and messing up the sound even though it might function similarly to nano or clear coating. I don't know.

I figured it couldn't hurt anything as I will probably change strings on my basses fairly soon. So, do people in the bass world use Finger Ease, or XLR8 or Fast Fret?

I despise the stuff. A guitarist I used to play with overused it terribly. I swear it ate the finish of the neck of my '73 SG...

I used to use it quite a bit in the late 80's and 90's. I had to have it because I read that Geddy used it. ;) It worked really well! I didn't mind the smell, but one thing that bothered me was some difficulty in polishing afterwards due to the oiliness. Are they still making it? :) I haven't used it for years.
Best wishes,
Brent

Oily? I don't find the stuff oily at all. But I seem to like how it allows my to get up and down the bass' neck with roundwound strings.

I've tried D'Addario's XLR8 which is a pad which distributes their stuff instead of spray. Didn't like the stuff and it dried out... but I like the pad and now spray the Finger Ease into the applicator pad rather than spray the stuff up and down the neck. Seems to work equally as well and won't coat the fingerboard.

Just wondering if it was as popular in the bass world as I've found it to be in the guitar world.

I I have a can in my gig bag, mostly use it for outdoor gigs in the humid summers. Strings get downright sticky in the summer and this really helps on the strings and the back of the neck. I've used it for years on poly and nitro finished basses without any issues. I do clean my basses after I'm done playing the next day after I use the stuff though.
