I love D Addario bronze on my acoustic Washburn, Sadowsky flats on my semi hollow Gibson signature, Tried ghs flats, hate them, not smooth and silky and don't sound as good. Now I am looking for suggestions for my professional p bass. Got her new in September and factory strings are going south. Like to stick with rounds as I can make them sound like flats with just the tone knob..

Thank for the info guys. I'm an old band geek who quit playing for 40 years. Couldn't stand auidiophilia any more, too much music in my head. Been a wonderful 11 month adventure so far. Keepin' it fun and not too serious, couple of originals starting in the works

Dont expect too much with stock MOD shop pickup tone, swap with CS60 or PV63 first, the stock string sound very nice with both pickup that i mention.

Hope help.

I run an almost flat response on my amp. Fender 1x15 150 rumble. Why would I change my tone pot when fingerboard and finger picking technique gets great results. What works is what works for you. I'm just curious about what works for other people. Can't wait to play Sadowsky med flat blues on the p and light flats on the Gibson. Gibson kinda plays like a cello with the flat Sadowskys. They play like silk under your fingers and maintained tone longer than other strings. But remember, I'm the 60 year old band geek who hasn't played for 40 years. Anyone in Springfield,Eugene got any ideas to colaberate on in music. Met a gentleman playing his Las Paul at G C when I bought my p bass in September. Just want someone to play with please.long 11 months playing solo. Bend me, break me, any way you wanna make me. I'm teachable.!!!

Both flats and rounds can sound good on a P. Try several sets, they all fit different basses differently. I seem to prefer nickel strings on my P, especially when broken in. Gotta try those new GHS balanced nickels...

Then there's tapewounds. I have a couple sets waiting to go on my P, that should be fun. The new Labella Whites look promising- very different from old school black tapes (in case you think of tapes as dark).

Just put D Addario chromes, (regular light guage) ECB81. Awesome. Only changes from rounds: back bass off one eighth from flat. High mid and high up an eighth and tone 3/4 bright. One can get a bright roundwound sound from these, my 2017 professional p bass. These are so bitchen I'm gonna practice scales and finger permutations on the Gibson signiture so I can put them on her too. Same silky feel as Sadowsky Blue Flats but brighter and more energetic. Love Sadowsky but this feels and sounds superior and ain't waiting four months to get a set of Sadowsky strings

My bands play Classic Rock , Southern Rock and Country. ECB 81 Chromes have been working for me for years now. Gatorbait (my son) plays more modern stuff , some jazz and also plays in pit orchestras. He uses Sadowsky Rounds but I'm not sure exactly which ones.

Just put ECB81 on her yesterday. Silky smooth feel like Sadowsky blue flats but brighter and better action. Love the sound of them, want to put some on the Gibson Signature when her strings go dead.
