Flattening A Pick Guard

Is there a safe and reliable way to flatted a pick guard that has become a little curved. Convex. If mounted, the center part of this Precision pick guard is not going to touch the guitar body from the pickups to the neck, and surrounding area. It's going to "pooch" out (that's a technical term.
