Hey Justin - I recently bought a used JMJ Mustang that the previous owner had put rounds on. I like them but I want to try flats on it as well. In an ideal world I'd have 2 JMJs, one with rounds and one with flats but that's not happening right now. Is there a string you'd recommend that can straddle the line between both worlds where I could get a modern round Death Cab sound and also a more vintage Tame Impala thing.

I know you recommend D'Addario Chromes so I picked up a set of those and they're on their way. But if there's something else (maybe halfs?) that could work in both worlds using tone controls, foam mutes, etc. I'd love to hear your insight. Thanks!

Thanks, but he's said in the past LaBellas were for a super old school vibe, I'm not asking what he uses, I'm asking what he would recommend that could be a jack of all trades, master of none situation, if that exists.

Get some Medium Scale D'addario XL's (EXL160M) and then proceed to wear them the F out. You'll be set. That's what I've got on my JMJ Daphne. I have La Bella's on my JMJ Black.

JMJ….which LaBellas do you have on your JMJ black….the ones designed for the mustang, or the low tension ones, or something else? Thanks!!
