Folding music stand recomendations

I have 2 gigs coming up that will likely require charts due to limited rehearsal time.
Musicians Friend had a lot of conflicting reviews.
Looking for sturdy and portable; it will probably only get used 6 times a year so doesn't have to be super heavy duty but not junk either.

Anybody have any recomendations to buy, or stay away from?

My mom has Hawaiian and Jazz gigs (she’s the ‘Uke/Guitar player), and I bought her a folding music stand from Amazon (Crafty Gizmos), for Christmas. She has been using it several days a week since she got it. She loves it.

If you’re using single-sheet charts (rather than a book), I recommend the latter of the two you listed. Its metal bookplate lets you use magnets to hold the pages. (I use some cute, colorful magnets from Good Grips.)

I have a Hamilton folding whiz-bang stand.

Assessment: totally useless.

Do not buy a Hamilton Folding Whiz-Bang music stand - unless you like your music falling all over the place and the stand generally sagging if you put even one skinny three-hole binder on it.

It looks cute when you unfold it. The cuteness dies when it falls over.

I'd go with "sturdy". There's something about plastic hinges that reeks of failure, IMO.

Put your music in a 3 ring binder and get some medium size binder clips for wind control. If you expect a real windy day, large clips for the book and a couple sandbags for the base are good to have on hand.

I have had one of those Peak folding music stands for 5 years and our band has several of them. First off, they DO come with the bag :D Second, I have put some very very heavy large books on them before and they don't flinch whatsoever, and they're nearly impossible to knock over. Of course, you can do it if you try, but you have to be pretty willful about it. 100% highly recommended.

Now you tell me:).
I ordered the cheaper one based on the above comments about strength.
It will be here Thursday and even if it is more heavy duty, the folding music desk and carry bag suddenly are important.
Mainly because of a gig in June.
I will have my bass cabinet and spare amp deliverd to the outdoor stage and I will park many blocks away and walk in with a MB800 Fusion and a Mono bass bag.
Thinking this walk will suck carrying another item.
The music desk will not fit in the mono gab or laptop case for the amp.

And the Herculees guitar stands don't come with a carry bag.

Oh well. I've seen worse to carry than the MF stand, but the Peak definitely is easier overall.

Can you get a backpack for the desk and amp?
Then, wrap the stand in a towel and put it in the Mono bag with the folded legs running next to the neck, below the head stock.

Music stand works great and with a binder clip at the top, charts stay put in wind.
The non-folding table is a drag to carry though.
Of course I buy this stand and the drummer brings 4 Manhasset stands; he owns a PA company and they need them for certain gigs.

A Peak won't break the bank and can totally do it. Mine isn't even the top of the line Peak.
