for those who think jazz basses can’t thump...

My receipe for getting some balls out of a Jazz bass. First turn off the bridge pickup then roll the tone knob back find a spot that works for you I turn it back a out 75% - 100% depending on the song. If possible run through a good 100w or more tube head, a class D with a tube pre amp also works well. I use a DOD Bi-fet pre amp pedal to beef up my basses with weak output. Not necessary but run 15s instead of 10s.

No doubt. I've played a few gigs on J-basses through Bag End 15" cabs, which produced serious thump. Loved it, so much so that I considered buying one of those cabs. I usually favor the neck pickup, which helps, but with the Lace Man o' War pickups in my G&L JB, I get plenty of thump with both up full.
