I have a stingray bass with fret buzz in some places. I like having some buzz to create "a metal tone".
But how much fret buzz is considered too much? Also random question, i have a electro harmonix fuzz pedal and it requires a 9v battery in it. How much does it last?

I could be all wrong, but I hear two kinds of buzz and rattle on some basses, including mine...

I hear some "rattling" when I dig in and play (too) hard, but it doesn't sustain with the note. And I seldom notice it when playing with full band, doesn't seem to be distracting.

Fret "buzz" is what I notice when the action is too low, the neck is improperly adjusted, or the fret level might be a problem. It continues with the sustain of the note.

I imagine it's entirely possible for the two phenoms to be present. You may need to determine which you are hearing and approach from there.

This was on my radar very recently, as I wrote about in another post. And I could be totally full of crap with this, but that's my thoughts on it.
