Ello~
I'm a relative newbie to bass guitar - been playing regular guitar for over 15 years and just started picking up bass within the last 12 months to work on personal projects.
I feel like I've adjusted to it well enough to start recording, but I've been having trouble with fret buzz. It's most prominent on the low B, E and A strings, between the 5th-12th frets, and is especially obnoxious on the A string 11th fret specifically.
I've tried so many adjustments using both the truss rod and saddles, from having the action low with the neck almost straight, to having the strings sitting around 40mm off of the fretboard and it just never seems to go away.
I don't have easy access to any professional help and I'm just about at my wit's end, so this is my last-ditch attempt at getting it done myself.
The guitar in question is a Jackson CBNXT Bass V (5-string) and I got it from a reputable dealer who check over their products before dispatching ('Andertons' in the UK), so I've really convinced myself it's not a problem with the guitar itself - but I don't actually know for sure. Oh, and I also have fairly new D'Addario EXL170-5 strings on it.
So any help/tips would be greatly appreciated - like is higher string action always the way to go when eliminating buzz, or is there a sweet spot that I have to try to find? Is it even possible to completely avoid buzz on a bass? etc.
