Fretboard Marker, Inlay, or Sticker ideas...

Hi Everyone,

Longish time no post for me.

I'd like to either do a small project with making fretboard markers (sticker, paint, or something).
Or if it's too much trouble I'll just buy a $10 sticker pack (LOL). This is for a 24 fret maple board, and I'm favoring black.

Every year there are new products come out and I wonder if there's anything that is similar to
sticker packs you can get, but just a sheet and I could cut, and then place onto the fretboard.
Essentially, something better than black electrical tape.

I'm open to other ideas anyone has also (why I posted here)..

Thanks!

You can get vinyl and cut it but it's probably easiest and worth it to just get the stickers or have someone with a CNC cutter cut (like a sign shop) them for you,

Careful, the glue on fret stickers isn't just any glue. It's also a very thin layer to minimize bleeding. The stickers themselves are rather thin as well.

Inlay Stickers – They look like REAL inlay! For Guitar and Bass, Ukulele more…
Thanks for the heads up on the stickers not being general and specific for instruments.

Thanks for the Link also! I had checked them out off of Amazon but did t see they had pure black for bass but one that had a greenish black pearl. Think they would make just black? Kinda seems like a common request.

I second buying from the link above. I've used their products on several of my basses over the years and they are durable, well made, stay in place,
and don't wear out quickly or easily. I recommend buying from their link above as opposed to ebay or amazon as their prices are cheaper on their own site.

I'm not sure if they take custom orders, but you can ask them.

I'm seeing all kinds of Vinyl sheets on Amazon now...Some have different stickiness in seeing. In door/outdoor...

All the more reason to speak to someone there. I would imagine they would know about how the glues work on wood (since they do wood signs).

But if you intend to have these on for a long time (but not permanent), probably best to get the ones designed for fretboards. I just figured these would not be on for a long time, so I don't see any issue. A maple board with poly, the wood will be protected.

I got some off yin-yang ones from Ebay for my 24 fret Warwick Streamer. They look pretty good, even close up. I've also used some novelty smiley face stickers from a local craft shop on a Thumb as fret dots.

I've used them (the above link) a couple of times too f.w.i.w. and have gotten good results.

I bought a pair of the pearl blocks on Amazon, think they're the same place as the link above.
They are very high quality and installed easily. Only issue I had was laying them out, so spend time making sure they are square.

Try a hobby store and look for Monokote. It is for radio control airplanes. I used to race RC cars, and I used that for making numbers on the car bodies. Comes in a bunch of different colors. It's thin and self adhesive. Comes in a 5 inch wide by 3 foot long strip, at least what I've bought.
