Full Stack Bassist Group (Scott's Bass Lessons).

It looks really good to me and I’ve done a few of their courses and learned my money’s worth. It’s just bad timing on my part. I’m still finishing fretboard accelerator and have a couple courses on the academy I’ve had my eye on. I like to finish a thing before moving on to the next thing, otherwise I’d do it.

I would be extremely dubious of a guy that claims that he can get you ready for any gig from a bassist that has barely played live before.

Or am I thinking of someone else? Wasn't he the bassist that a year or two ago made a big deal about playing in front of a crowd for the first time?

Scott Devine has extensive live experience in UK venues, corporate gigs and cruise ships. If Ian is teaching in any of the content, he’s literally been the Nathan East of Minneapolis for over 15 years as well as a college-level adjunct professor at one the biggest music programs in the midwest. Did many national tours, Letterman, and all that prior to greener SBL/online influencer pastures.

SBL is certainly not without its flaws, but a lack of experienced instructors isn’t one of them.

Okay cool, thanks for the info. I have to be thinking of someone else. David504 maybe? I dunno. I can't keep the influencers straight.

Thanks again!

Nothing against SBL or the like, but I would heartily suggest lessons with a real teacher: Sitting across from someone you can watch, and they can watch you, just isn't possible with 1-way video tutorials, and is invaluable.
I still do this form time to time. It's worth noting that there is a weekly meeting with a live instructor. I don't mind doing this via zoom.

I don’t like his wanna be viral YouTube videos, but I like the idea of using online videos to learn more. That been said I am recently starting some bass lessons with a real teacher. We started with the online courses then moved to in person lessons because they are much better.

I get what you're saying. I want to do the opposite. I want to work on a curriculum when I have time. I'm so busy with my real job, life, wife, kids, etc.... The curriculum looks quite pithy, so I'm hopeful. I'm hoping it fills in the gaps that are lacking from in person lessons. I need more 'real life scenarios skills (fills, walking lines, etc...) that the local pros can't seem to figure out how to articulate or provide me.

In my experience some TB folk can't stomach the hype around SBL and i get that.

However, the standard SBL academy works great for me. I'm in my second year. Currently working on Funk with Ian King and Slap bass with Phil Mann, both excellent teachers. Earlier this year i completed the Walking Bass class with Scott himself. I've been very happy i tuned out the noise and hard core selling and settled into just working on the fabulous courses.

NOT quite the same as sitting in a room with a good teacher, but this approach has some plus's for me:
I can consume the lessons on my schedule. I typically get time for learning bass late at night. SO on demand is great for me
There is a good variety of classes for different styles and skill levels
I tried finding a local 'live' teacher and wound up with a guitar player as the best option. Learning from successful working bassists is FAR better for what i need.

I didn't go for the Full Stack course, as I have my plate full with the academy classes, but IN GENERAL i really like SBL and have made very good progress in my Bass playing thanks to Scott and company.
