Fuzzes that play well with buffered effects

I'm looking at seeing if I like a different fuzz from the Woolly Mammoth I have been using for years, mainly because I want something that is less sensitive about where it is placed in the signal chain. The problem is that I am having issues finding out how well some of the options I am looking at actually do with that.

Specifically, how do Brassmasters and mkII and mkIII tonebenders do with buffered bypass effects in front of them?

The Mastotron is very similar to the Woolly Mammoth and plays well with buffers.

Also, try searching for fuzzes that work well with active basses. An active bass is also a buffered signal. And if you're doing a search, you'll probably find more results for active bass + fuzz than buffer + fuzz.

I feel dumb for forgetting to search for active bass information instead. Looks like the Brassmaster will work and the tonebenders won't. Thanks for the help.

The easiest answer is getting a buffer buster or passive pickup emulator. Then you can retain all the tone of all the fuzzes. Even fuzzes or overdrives that won’t squeal or horribly distort after buffered signals won’t sound as good as they would with a passive signal.
