I have an L2K which I play quite frequently.
The tone stack takes some experimentation and some experience to dial in the right sounds. There's a lot written about this so I'll say no more.
The one odd thing to my ear is that the treble rolls off a bit on the higher side, say when compared with a bass with just a single tone knob. I thought I'd analyze it. Here's what I found:
Treble: really starts to roll off sharply above 1K. Almost no effect below that. That's really going to be an attack modifier for me as I don't have too much tonal signal up there in the lower registers.
Bass: More gradually attenuates below 200K; Roughly half fundamental volume at fretted C.
This means to get a typical passive tone knob rolled off tone might be difficult on this bass. Not sure that it matters, but it's an interesting outcome of the design. Anyone know what the tone caps look like? is there something about else about this design that I should know?
