In March 2022, G&L did away with their long standing MSRP approach to pricing. Everything is now offered in terms of a Price which is simply the Price. You might also hear me call it “Street Price” or “Internet Price”.

Below you will find the Prices for every bass model and option included in their “Build To Order” product line. Prior to this price list, this was called the Option Order product line. And many moons ago, it was the only product line they offered. This is the product line that is made in USA with a slew of available colors and options, but it does not include the Custom Shop, CLF Research or Tribute product lines.

With MSRP out of the way, pricing a bass now involves a bit less math. You can literally just add up all the options and that will tell you the minimum price that a dealer has to advertise for that bass. I will still beat that advertised price, but I can only share those details in private conversations. So if you’d like my best price on your dream set of specs, then please:
1) PM me here on TB or
2) email me at [email protected] or
3) Call me @ 540-961-7655

Finishes
As of 2023 there is no longer a differentiation between Standard and Premier finishes. Metal Flake finishes went away in 2023, but they are now BACK for 2024! Metal Flake finishes add $150.

The Clear and Burst finishes that used to be called "Premier" finishes will still look best over Ash, but the current price list seems to imply that you can put them on any of the available body woods. My advice would be to avoid Basswood, it's best under a solid color. I tend to think the same thing about Alder, but maybe not?

I just received the 2013 price list from G&L. Once again, the only changes were the addition of a couple new models. New for this year are the LB-100 and MJ-4 models! The pricing on existing models stayed the same. :hyper:

The LB-100 is a throwback - it was discontinued some time ago, but is now available again!

The MJ-4 is G&L's "modern" take on the jazz bass. It's got the L2K body w/ hum cancelling J pickups and a 3-band active preamp. I was reallly excited when I first saw the MJ-4 on the price list... but then I saw on their website that it wasn't a J-bass body shape. It might just be me who is dissappointed by that, but I was really hoping it would be a noiseless/active version of the JB bass. Oh, well, I'm sure it's a hip bass, especially for cats who are after more of that G&L vibe!

Swamp Ash Body: MRSP = $100 For Standard Finishes, or $0 for Premier Finishes

Isn't it suppose to be the other way around-

Swamp Ash Body: MRSP= $100 For Premier Finishes, or $0 for Standard Finishes

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the Standard Finishes where $0 pricing and the Premier was $100 option.

BODY WOOD: Alder on Standard and all solid finishes, Swamp Ash on Premier Finishes
NECK WOOD: Hard Rock Maple with Rosewood or Maple fingerboard

I pulled this off of the G&L site:

So Alder on Standard finishes is no UPCHARGE, but if I decide to go with a Premier finish the finish is an UPCHARGE but they use ASH body instead of Alder correct?

alder is standard and a swamp ash body is a $100 upcharge if you order the bass with a standard finish. if you order a bass with a premier finish, you have the choice of alder or ash without the upcharge for the ash.

So even though you order a bass with a choice of Alder or Ash you would still be paying the UPCHARGE for the Premier finish correct.
Premier finishes & Metal Flake finishes are an option but the standard finishes are not.
I'm really sorry I'm not trying to make this confusing, really.

correct. there is the upcharge for the preimier finish but getting a swamp ash body with it is not an additinal charge.

for example

L-2000 - $1700 (with alder, standard finish)
L-2000 - $1800 (with ash, standard finish)
L-2000 - $1800 ( with ash or alder, premier finish)

I hope this clears it up for you.

I've updated post #1 in this thread to reflect the 2014 Price List that was just officially released by G&L. The price list does not take effect until August 1st, 2014, so I've included both the 2014 and 2013 prices. Until August 1st, G&L is allowing you to choose whichever price is lower on an option-by-option basis (i.e. you can "cherry pick" the lowest price for everything on your order). Come August 1st, I'll delete all the 2013 pricing info just to reduce confusion.

wasn't sure where to post this, so I thought I'd put it here.
Greg, could you talk to G&L and see what the possibility would be to get a matching headstock laminate on basses ordered with a flame/quilted maple top and also if it would be possible to order an SB-1 with the alnico pickup used in the LB-100. thanks in advance.

Hi, Jeremy,

I'm afraid it's a "no" on both counts.

On the SB-1, we could always purchase that pickup separately, and I'd be happy to install it at no charge for you (other than the cost of the pickup = $79.95).

Cheers,
Greg
