Some of these plugins are pretty good. I use Amplitube a lot. Their Trace Elliot emulation is fantastic.

I'll have to check this out! Worth noting that Native Instruments' Guitar Rig 6 has Bass Invader, which is a circuit model of a GK 400RB. I've had a 400RB since '87 and NI nailed it.

I gave it a try with the 14-day-trial and bought it the same day, it's that good imo. I compared it to the di-out of my 700 RBII and tbh, the plugin sounds a bit better to my ears (of course the 700 is not the 800 and the power amp of the 700 is not involved, also no biamping). For recording at home it's great.

I'm not clear on the system requirements. I've got the Win 10 PC and Reaper, but another section talks about the UAD-2 and Apollo interface being needed to run the sim.

Will this work in Reaper without additional hardware or software?

I downloaded the trial version and it installed and is working very well in Reaper as a VST3. No UAD or Apollo required to host. BTW, this amp rocks!

They've got one head and cab now - the MB150S and it's 1x12 cab. I bought the head only right before I picked up the 800RB at Plugin Alliance.

AmpliTube 4 & 5 have the GK MB150S bass head and it's 1x12 cab. I recently added the amp only to one of my songs and it's terrific.
