I wanted to touch bases with those of you who have experience with the Vintage Microtubes and the Vintage Ultra. I know that the Era knob is gone on the Ultra, and I am very familiar with layout of the Ultra, because I have a Microtubes B7K Ultra, and love it. I recently purchased a VMT, and I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on a Vintage Ultra. Anyone out there trade up on the Ultra? I'd be very interested in your feedback, and if it was a good move for you. I have plenty of room for the Ultra on my board, and I'd sell the VMT. Has anyone done this, and missed their VMT?

I went VMTD V1 to VMTU...an improvement in overall versatility, but its my least favorite Darkglass drive at this point. My ears and tastes are always changing, but I'm just finding it...not right. I do kind of miss the character of the ERA knob, even if I was usually diming it. I've actually thought of going the other way - ditching the Ultra in favor of the VMT, simplify a bit... maybe we can make a deal.

Interesting dilemna.

I had one, and sold it. It was super nice, well made, etc. but in the end I didn't feel like it added enough to my overall sound to justify it's value and the real estate it takes up. Also, in my opinion, other dirt pedals on my board gave me a better overdrive sound. If you had to only have one tone shaper and dirt pedal combo, the VU would be tough to beat.

I do have the Microtubes B7K Ultra. I appreciate your input.
