Hello, I recently decided to buy an Explorer DIY kit; one problem is it has holes for a 3-Point Bridge. Could I plug the holes and replace it with a high-mass bridge? Does anyone know if this will work, or has tried it before?

Sure, no reason that won't work. The 3 point bridges tend to be taller, so you may have to raise the bridge saddles on the high-mass rather high, or stick a riser shim under it.

You’ll probably have to check and adjust the neck angle during assembly or, as @bholder said, add a riser under the new bridge. Those 3 point bridges are fairly tall as compared to a Fender style so there is most likely some angle built into the neck heel or the bottom of the neck route in the body. The best / easiest way to adjust that will depend on which part has the angle.

Consider getting a hipshot three point bride and use that. Cosmetically, you’ll be happier (no unsightly plugs) and they are great bridges. You could even plug the holes and drill and bolt the Hipshot directly onto the body, not using the threaded inserts.
