I need to get a gig bag for my XP2.
So far, I have seen discussion of bags for the L2/XL2's but not for the slightly wider XP2.

HeadlessUSA claims their narrow headless bass bag fits the XP2 but I have read on TB that it is a little skimpy on protection.

Any one find a better bag that is verified to fit? Ritter? Mono? Other?

-Thanks

I still have my original XP-2 bag (and the bass), not for sale, but I can measure it for you if it helps. I've seen people use rifle cases, but I'd think any case that will fit one of the headless knockoffs like a Hohner will work. Bought mine in 1986, what year is yours?

I just received the XP2. The widest part (base) of the bass is 10" across - that's just under 260mm
So it looks like the higher end Ritter bag will work - RGS7 MGB and possibly the cheaper Warwick Rockbag RB20501B.
Both have thicker padding than the HeadlessUSA bag

Post some photos! I modded mine (reversibly) by transferring everything to a new mahogany body, which had the intended effect of making the tone a little warmer, while retaining that lightning fast, Incredibly stable neck. I keep the original body and pickguard in the Steinberger logo bag. It's made of Nomex with inner padding. I'll put it back to original if I ever sell it, but I doubt I will. BTW, if it has any nicks or dings in the neck, they can be invisibly repaired with black gel coat patch, that's what the black finish is on the neck. Check the threaded inserts in the neck heel, they tend to get loose over time, had to re-bed two of mine with epoxy.

Awesome, thanks! The bass arrived in tune from the East Coast - I'll call that stable.

Here's what mine looks like now, kind of an interesting experiment in tonewood theory. Everything is original except the body, mahogany instead of the epoxy-laquered rock maple original body. It sounds a bit warmer, a little less crisp to my ears, so maybe the body wood does have some small effect.
