GK Cabs for Gallien-Krueger MB200

Hi everyone this is my first post on this forum and I'm so glad for talk with many people around the world who plays the bass, I'm looking for my second one bass amp, and I want to build my perfect rig (head and cabinet) I'm in love of Gallien-Krueger and I'm thinking about to get the MB200 who has 200 Watts with a 4 ohms cabinet and it's perfect to me because I wanna practice in my house and I wanna play in my church but I haven't find a GK cabinet to hook up with the MB200, so I mean, I wanna GK cabinet (4 Ohms), what model of GK cabinet would you recommend me? Thanks a bunch!

I would look into getting 2 CX115s or 2 Neo 112s. They make 4ohm cabs but to be honest you'd be kinda of "wasting" all that headroom (imo) by using a 200 watt head, that I think you'd be better off using two 8ohm cabs. And you could always only use one of the cabs for smaller gigs or rehearsals since they can individually handle what the MB200 puts out at 8ohms.

So do you recommend me for example 2 GK Blx115? And what happens if I get just one 1x15 or 2x10? Will not to be enough?

Disregard what I just said. The MB200 only has 1 speaker output. To get the full 200 watts you'd need to use 1 4 hm cab. Unfortunately the only new GK cabs that come in 4ohms are the following: Neo 412, Neo 810, and CX410. If you were looking at the BLX series, the BLX 810 is 4ohms.

If you have the budget I'd highly recommend getting the MB500 instead. More power and can connect two cabs.

if you don't need the volume, i'd suggest that Neo 112 ll. i have one sitting right next to my desk with my LH500 sitting on top of it, a very sweet combination. whether it's enough depends on how loud you need to get in your church.

My suggestion isn't for a G.K. cabinet (and I'm a G.K. fanboy).

I've been researching Barefaced bass cabinets.

One amp/cabinet combination that gets a lot of love on the Barefaced threads is the combination of a G.K. MB200 head and a Barefaced ONE10 cabinet.
The Barefaced cabinet will get the most from the MB200 at what will probably be "THE" loudest and "THE" lightest and "THE" smallest cabinet that can go low available.

Drawback, it'll be "THE" most expensive 110 cabinet available....

So, do I need to buy another head to play at church? I was thinking on ampeg pf350 because gives 350 Watts on a 4 ohms cabinet and I would to get an ampeg cabinet, sorry but I prefer to build my own rig all the same brand or you have another idea? Feel free to give me an example or suggestion, I would a rig that I can play on a rehearsal even at my church

I just sold a GKMB200 and found it paired well with the now discontinued GK MBE 210-II cabinet, which had two 10 inch neo speakers. However, a stellar combination was with the Genzler BA12-3 cabinet, which would likely be sufficient for many church type gigs. You might want to try different speaker configurations to see if you prefer 10, 12, or 15 inch speakers, as they all sound different. Also, you could combine two 8 ohm cabinets of the same or different configurations.

I sometimes use my GK MB200 with one or two 8 Ohm GK NEO112 II cabs - single speaker output to first cab and then daisy chain to the other (cab to cab). The head itself doesn't care about the wiring scheme in terms of how it sees the 4 Ohm load. GK heads with GK cabs sound really good IME.

My favorite use of this head is with the Eden EX110 (for small acoustic or coffee house gigs). It's also quite convenient if stage space is tight and I will have FOH/PA support (so it's a stage monitor only). One or two of the 8 Ohm version of the EX110 or EX112 would probably be more than sufficient to get the most out of that head. It's a low cost, good value option.

If you only need this rig for practice and stage monitoring duty (i.e. you'll have FOH/PA support at performances), the MB200 should be fine. If you'll need your head and cabs to carry a med/large church venue and GK is your preferred brand, I'd think about the MB500. The Neo 112II's would still be the first place I'd look for a cab in terms of performance and value for the dollar. I own two of them and they hold their own quite nicely against my Berg and Mesa cabs.

I played an MB200 through a GK CX115 for quite a while. The amp puts out 130 watts at 8 ohms. I never lacked for volume, although we aren't a crazy loud band. It's correct that the amp has only one speaker out but you can stack two CX115s, daisy chained together for a 4 ohm load and the full 200 watts.

The CX115 is a good, lightweight and very reasonably priced cab, especially if you like things mid focused. Two of them would make a nice rig. So would two 112neos although I only played those in a store.

I recommend 8 ohm cabs simply for the flexibility of using only one if that's all you need.

My main rig these days is an MB500 with an Avatar B210neo/SB112neo stack with the MB200 as a backup. Love the set up. Both amps sound great.

For the price the MB200 is the best bang for the buck out there IMO.

One of my setups is a GK MB200 and I use 2 GK Neo112's. Yes, the amp only has one output so you daisy chain from one cab to the other. The Eden 1x10's or 1x12's are great cabs and come in 4ohms IIRC.
The Edens come in either 4 or 8 Ohm configurations, or at least they did when I ordered mine. You do have to be careful to specify which one you want as the 4 Ohm cabs seem to be the ones I ran across more frequently when I was looking.

Even with only one speaker out on the amp you can still daisy chain two 8ohm cabs together to get the full wattage.

That's correct. But if he wanted to stay with GK, the CX115s and Neo 112s can't be daisy chained.
Why not? They have a speakon and a 1/4" connector on the back plate. Whats the problem?
CX 115 specs:
Configuration
1 x 15"
Horn Yes (Defeatable)
Power Handling 300W
Impedance 8 ohms
Inputs 1 x speakON, 1 x 1/4"
Cabinet Type Straight
Height 19"
Width 23"
Depth 14.5"
Weight 35 lbs.
Manufacturer Part Number 301-0860-A

Same goes for the cx210 and same for neo 112

I'm curious as to why you feel it wouldn't be doable. Even though the cabs only have one 1/4" and one Speakon input on each cab, as long as you're not trying to use the GK horn Management System (which the MB heads don't have) both of those connections should work as full range and they're in parallel - at least to the best of my knowledge. Now the cabs may not be a good acoustic match, but they should at least function unless I'm missing something...which is the case more often than I'd like to admit! :)
