I decided to trade my Rumble 40 for a GK MB112-II. Went to my local GC to do the deal. They offered $70 for the rumble. I said I was hoping for $100 They said yes. My theory was that the $42 I'd save on the new amp would offset the loss I took by selling my Rumble for $40 less than market value. I gave them my Rumble and they placed an order for a brand new GK 112. And then things went terribly wrong.
Two days passed with no ship notification. The amps have disappeared from the web page for ordering. I called to see whatzup. GK is no longer going to carry these and they can't be back ordered so my order had been assigned to a store in TX. I call the store and the manager said something like "That is our display model, you want me to ship that"? He did some research only to confirm that GC no longer has the GK 112 in stock; only display models are left. He found an open-box model at a different store. Figuring it would have the box and manual, he transferred the order there.
Two more days go by with no ship notification. I call the other store. Manager said something like "That is our display model, you want me to ship that"? I filled him in on the details and he said it wasn't an open-box but a display model. I told him to check it out and make sure it is in good shape, then ship it. He said he'd call if the amp wasn't in great condition.
Two days later I have ship notification. This is now 9 calendar days after the order.
Amp arrives! GC shipped it wrapped in bubble wrap in a loose fitting shipping box. No GK box, no manual, no power cord. Scuff marks on the control knobs. Plug it in and BINGO it doesn't work. Bass control does nothing. Treble control acts like a volume control.
Back to local GC to return the amp. They can't get me a new one but a store less than 1500 miles away has a MB 115 used. They agree to apply the 10% savings to that and an order is placed.
Two days later no ship notification. I call the store. They are waiting for bubble wrap but plan to ship the amp in the next day or so.
..... Anyone wanna place bets on how this one will be when it arrives????
