I recently purchased a broken GK MB112 combo amplifier for cheap. I took the combo amp apart and determined the only problem is a blown speaker. I'm not sure how the guy ended up blowing the speaker because it looks like he takes care of his equipment.

In order to reduce weight, I am interested in replacing the stock ceramic speaker with a neodymium speaker. Does anyone have recommendations?

Thanks.

Might want to check with GK to see if they have a Neo equivalent, as the enclosure is designed for the stock speaker. Also keep in mind you need a 4 ohm speaker.

Pretty sure that's not the case. That combo will drive an 8 ohm load in addition to its built-in speaker.

No sir. These amps do not have outputs to connect a passive external cabinet. They only have a 'chain out' for connecting the matching powered cabinets. I have two of these amps so I know them very well.

Here is the speaker that is loaded into the amp and the extension cabs. It is 4 ohms. The amp is designed to work with a 4 ohm speaker and should only be replaced with a 4 ohm speaker.

My mistake. I thought this was a MB150....I see now it's a MB112.
