good/cheaper side p bass pickups

have a mike dirnt squier that I love but want to upgrade the pickups

Go for a Seymour Duncan or DiMarzio. Solid pickups and reasonably priced.

If you like the Fender P bass tone, Fender makes a good value "Original 62 Precision Bass Pickup". For more cash they make a custom shop version of the original 62. And a Pure Vintage 63.
