Great DI with drive & effects loop?

Hi Friends

I'm looking for a pedal I add to my board that I can use direct for FOH / Studio or out into my amp.

Ideally:
- Great sound; tonal options
- I'd love it if I could have easily selectable presets (e.g. slap tone with scooped mids; light OD; clean)
- XLR (with the normal features) or TR out
- I'd like it to also include an effects loop as I would prefer to add previous pedals before dirt and be able to have reverb / delay after the dirt but still have the sum total go out through the XLR or TR connector.

The Darkglass Vintage Ultra pedals look great but seem to lack the effects loop.
Maybe the Tonehammer? Although I'd still be dialling in different tones other than the OD.

Or do I need a programmable EQ, dedicated OD / dirt (I already own a Xotic BB Bass Pre- which is a great pedal) and a DI box?

I'm in the process of trying to slim my board to the bare essentials (down from 3 octave pedals to just one for example). Ideally from my current Novo-18 to a metro-20 or smaller.

I recently tried for a few days and then returned a SansAmp programmable Bass DI. No FX-Loop and I wasn't so crazy about the tones I could get. And it was pretty massive.

I have a Genz-Benz Shuttle 6.0 Amp which is great and can be very neutral if needed. (Which itself has a DI and great quality sound). I would love to be able to turn up with my bass and pedalboard and be set, whatever they've got - PA or Amp.

Any ideas or suggestions would be really welcome!

Thank you

Sansamp's VT Deluxe and BDDI Deluxe will do that - each has 6 presets, DI out, and FX loop. Difference is basically the flavor of the drive and EQ points.

I went through your requirements and EBS MicroBass II ticks all the boxes. I have been using it with great results for years. What is great about the FX loop is that you can mix the dry and wet signals. I do that. I plug my reverb into the FX loop, set it at maximum and than use the FX Mix knob to find the right amount of the effect.

EBS MicroBass II Preamp/DI-box |

Recently, the manufacturer released the new versions with added features (tuner, compressor, stereo FX loop):

EBS MicroBass 3 - Professional Outboard Preamp |

Ps: I don't think there is FX loop on the Aguilar Tone Hammer preamp...

Hi All - Based on one of the earlier recommendations I found a good deal on an EBS Microbass II (via Reverb). It arrive today and I've just been trialling it for 30mins. It's exactly what I was looking for!

Thanks to everyone for the comments.
