Great video footage of Squarepusher and his Bongo 6.

Most bass players have no idea who Squarepusher is unfortunately. One of the most innovative bassists ever, but he was at the fore front during a time when many instrumentalists were too close minded to be accepting of electronic music.

One of the only guys in the history of music that is both an absolute virtuoso (he is an amazing drummer too see "Lambic 9 Poetry") and a genius when it comes to drum machines, samplers and other tools of the electronic music trade.

I don't even remember how I first became aware of Squarepusher. I think it must have been via an article in Electronic Musician in the late 90s or early 2000s. It wasn't until much later that I found out he was a bassist. A very cool - and original - artist.

Yes I was the same. I knew about Aphex Twin and someone recommended Squarepusher as another great IDM artist. I heard Hard Normal Daddy and my mind was blown. Then I decided I wanted to mess around with playing my bass live along with sequences and was trying to figure out how to set it all up. Again someone reccomends Squarepusher and I find out this guy is one of the greatest bass players around too.

Yea i made a thread about him a few weeks ago and a couple people posted some nice vids including that one i believe. Hes awesome!

There is video out there of him doing an entire concert using just his 6 string ibanez SDGR and another from the same concert series where he does a performance without the bass, showcasing all of his "Go Plastic" era stuff live 100% hardware.

I've also seen footage of him triggering sequences and samples live with only a laptop hooked up to the PA.

I think he was playing bass with a jazz trio in the early 2000s too lol.

Dude is crazy.
