Ground/ half rounds with round cores?

Lots of similar thread. Been in the same situation myself.

After using HalfRounds, I concur what others have written, that:
  • Ground wound or HalfRounds aren't smooth as I have expected (of course I didn't expect they would be as silky as Chromes). On the contrary they tend to be sticky;
  • They don't have the bite of round wounds that I have expected earlier. Instead, they sound thuddy, more like flat wound;
  • After reading similar threads which suggest Compression wound and actually restrung my bass with Compression wound, I conclude that this is the answer that I was looking for.

Labella quarter rounds aren't sticky and have lots of bite and basically feel like flats. Great strings.

The problem with most half/ground wounds is the material. Nickel always ends up sticky. The Labellas are steel and fantastic.

Hey,

I'm looking for standard length (34"), ground or half round strings with round cores. That combo should produce smooth feeling, flexible strings but with some of the bite of round wounds. Does that combo exist? If so, please direct me to the brand and "model".

Thanks!
I think you'd like TI jazz rounds. Flexible, smooth, some bite but not a lot. Expensive but amazing strings.
