I'm doing a Warmoth PJ with Flexcore parts base, and I have a plan for grounding that I've put together from manuals, videos, and web instructions. But I'd like to sanity check here on what I'm planning to do:

I've covered the pickup and control cavities with copper foil, covering the back plate as well such that the foil will come into contact with the cavity foil. Everything looks tight and continuous, minus where the wire and screw holes are.

The plan:
1) solder 22AWG wires from the pickup cavities to the control cavity, run an additional 22AWG wire from the bridge to the control cavity.
2) The nordstrand J pickup has an additional wire "to be connected to common ground". Solder this wire along with the shield wires from the pickups and the bridge wire to the control shield (or perhaps I should use a screw).
3) Solder a 22AWG wire to the wires in 2) to the "shields ground" in the Flexcore balancer board (https://www.flexcorepreamps.com/wp-...ore-preamp-installation-guide-rev.1-lores.pdf)

I feel this sounds approximately right, but perhaps there are easier / more foolproof ways of doing this. There will be 5 wires soldered at the control shield, which sounds a bit finicky.

In theory, since your Nordstrands already have shielding, you shouldn’t also need to shield the pickup cavities themselves.

In fact, others here on TB have said that double shielding like that can result in generating some capacitance between the two separate ground planes, and increasing noise. Does that sound plausible? I’m not an EE.

If everything is connected to ground you’re fine. A multimeter will tell you if this is true

I’ve read that as well, which gave me cause for concern as all the Fenders I added copper foil to got foil under the pups, both positions (Jazz basses).

Not an EE, either, but I didn’t notice any adverse effects on the tone of those basses. And that was when I could still hear!….:D

I did notice that my Lulls have the same treatment under the pups as the control compartment. So there’s , for what it’s worth.
