Double Bass Gut wrapped with nylon

Hi everybody,

I'm playing for years now a G string wrapped with nylon. Lately Labella Goldentone but I just found out that these strings are no longer available (confirmed by labella themselves).

So.. I'm wondering what options I have if I want to play a G string in gut wrapped with nylon. For now, here's the result of my research :

- Golden spirals : discontinued
- Labella Goldentone : discontinued
- Pirastro Pizzicato : cool string, but a little bit too round-wounded for me (everytime i move there's this specific noise, like on a guitar)

What else could I try ? Anyone ?

Thanks !!

A couple of days ago I emailed Gamut Music to find out if the nylon winding option will be available for the Lyon gut G & D bass strings any time in the near future. I was told that they will be available in the future, but unfortunately that option is not available now. They still have Red Diamond strings, and are currently working on batches of them now. I was told that because the Red Diamond sets are at a reduced price, they only offer them in sets, with no option of selling them individually or as singles.

As far as last year the Lyon was available in a nylon wrap.
