Hardshell case for squier jaguar short scale

Bump for help on this. My son has a short scale squier jag than he needs to start bringing to school. I would prefer a hard case for the bus rides.
Sadly, the only case I can find that is specifically built for Fender short-scale basses is as expensive as the bass itself.

G&G Standard Hardshell Case - Mustang® Bass - Musicmaster™ Bass - Bronco™ Bass | Accessories

However, based upon this thread…

Hard case for Fender Mustang?

…it looks like you might be able to make a hardshell or lightweight, polyfoam SKB case work with a little extra padding. I have one of each of these…

…and both are great. And don't let the "Soft Case" name fool you. From an account or two, that polyfoam siding is pretty damn tough, to the point where even if it gets cracked or shattered, it should be able to absorb one, solid, fatal-to-a-bass blow. I'm traveling to a convention soon and will be bringing one of my treasured parts-basses in the soft case. The molded one is tougher, but the soft case is lighter, has backpack-style straps for ease of transport and extra, exterior pockets for goodies.

Thanks for doing all this work! The Squier VM Jaguar SS is a a little bigger than the Mustang and Bronco, but you've given me some great ideas!

Cool! I love a great DIY project! Got any pictures? :snaphappy:
I'll try to post 1 r2. Could take a while. This thing is harder to play than bass!

Heavy won't work in my case. I need something my 10 year old son can easily carry on the school bus.
Best bet for you is probly a padded gig bag. They weigh next to nothing. The more padding the better! I'm really starting to enjoy my jag! Cheap sounds great, plays well. Deserves more respect than it gets I think!
