Found a 4x10 LH500 combo amp at the local pawn store. It's used, has a couple of tears in the tolex and one of the metal corners is bent out and needs to be replaced. It's well used but not too worn.

Same unit as this video,

$299.99

Would you jump on it? Been there for 3 weeks now.

Do I like the sound?
Do I like the condition?
Do I like the price?

If the answer is NO to any of those questions, then I wouldn't buy it.

Why don't you tell then that you will give them $125 for it and work your way to $200.

Just watch Pawn Stars backwards.
Exactly. Do to them what they would do to you. The basic rule of pawn shops is, buy for half of what you can sell. Offer them that and eventually you'll get " I would but I'm into it for that much " that's when the real negotiation begins. If it works, sounds good and you like it, $299 is a good price, but why pay it if you don't have to.

I don't know anything about that amp, but it looks pretty nice at a really nice price. I would try playing through it a bit and see if you like it. If so, I'd buy it if it were me. But not before seeing if I could haggle it down a little bit first.

I looked art it again Sat but it's not in my budget. Sunday I went there with a Walther P1 hand gun ex police issued in Germany and was going to see if they would trade straight across. They changed their hours as they don't seem to be open Sunday anymore. Monday I forgot about it LOL

I have two 4x10's and a LH1000 head. I am looking to sell my 1x15 Hy drive and replace it with a 4x10 and with that combo I was thinking it would serve the purpose of what I was eventually going to end up with, 4 4x10's and two heads only with one being a combo I would just haul it off to jams and not have to take the whole rig or even half of it. My tone would be pack away in the combo and very mobile. I should probably go get it.

Woohoo! They took the gun straight across. I only paid three for it. He said it was worth 500, and probably is in the current market. Before I went there I went to the pawn store up the hill to give them first shot at it. They would only give me 200 for it. Here it is on it's side as I am putting some weight on the tolex tear I glued down.

Dangit..... I was about to send a pm with an offer on the Walther!... Enjoy your new rig!

Duuuuuude! That is not a rig man it's a Combo or as Bob or "Bab" from Michigan once said a "Cambo" amp LOL

When did bass players start using the term Rig? Anyone know? I never heard that term in the 80's or 90's. I did not start hearing it till after 2012 when I got back into playing. I figure it came around sometime after I started hearing bands calling their out of town shows "tours".
