Looking to rebuild a decent at-home setup after quitting gigging and playing 6 years back. I gigged with 2 GS112s and a MarkBass head, which I absolutely loved, but I'm not so sure about MarkBass anymore since GC stopped servicing them directly and my current MarkBass amp combo is dead as a doornail.

I'm not a huge fan of the Hartke cabinets (at least when I tried them), but I've heard very good things about that head in terms of clarity / clean sound, which I'm thinking will be great for just playing at home. What have people had good (or bad) experiences with pairing the LH500 with other cabs, specifically 112?

I don't like the passive tone stack on the LH heads. I had one but went back to using my older massively more flexible AH3500.
I could never get the low end to sound good with my LH1000. I think it would struggle at low home volumes where you may want to boost the lows and highs.

i mean, it's fine?

it's super-heavy, which wouldn't matter for at home. the EQ is also pretty primitive, which might be a plus.

I'm open to other suggestions as well. I'm re-familiarizing myself with what's out there and how the options are qualified, and I think that "harmonically rich sound" is one phrase I've seen in some threads which might match what I'm looking for. When I was gigging, I mostly ended up just focusing on practicality: getting the right sounds out in the mix in large groups where dancing is involved (salsa) such that I could also use in smaller settings like jazz without losing my mind hauling it back and forth. Now I think I'd like to just be able to relax at home and soak in all the great sounds. :bassist:

Lack at the Mesa D350 head and Mesa Subway 115. Incredibly light and sounds amazing. Packs a ton of volume should you ever need it for more than playing at home.

I had an lh500 briefly that I ran into a ported ashdown 2x10 cab. I thought it sounded pretty good, and it was way louder than I needed for my home studio.

I think those big old amps are perfect for home/practice studio use, but I never want to haul that kind of tonnage for gigs again if I can help it.
