Have a guess if this is a real Fender or not.

The headstock decal is questionable and the Body doesnt look right and - even if it was - the body is so heavily modded with Two Vol/Two Tones and two mini Mojo switches -- that right there already drastically reduces that $1800 figure and thats without checking the S/N or Pot Codes

I think the neck might possibly be legit. Serial number is maybe late '72, but more like a '73. I've seen Jazz's from that time period where the headstock decal was lower down like the one in question and some decals a tad bit higher up. Tuning keys look right. The sunburst is totally not a period Fender. The body..my gosh what a freakin' hack job! It could have been a Jazz body at the beginning and then somebody with a saw showed up during its life. Poor thing. I'd love to open it up look around.

It's quite clearly from the Custom Bass Shop era where dreams became reality, even the bad ones. Sure, it is a wonky shape but, then again, those jigs and templates were pretty worn out at that time. I'm not saying it's genuine, I'm just saying it's not impossible. Provided he pours some mojo juice on it, everything should be tickety-boo. Somebody pay that man.
