Funny question. Is it even possible? If you have, please tell us your story!

Of course it's possible. Sometimes it is not because of what your thread is suggesting though. Wire stress, burr on the bridge saddle, etc. can all contribute to broken strings, not just sheer plucking and picking.

Never broken any string from strictly playing. The only time I've ever broken strings (including a B) is when taking old 34" scale strings from my normal basses and sticking them on the 30" scale Harmony because anymore it's just a tinker/beater bass anyway. Wrapping the main windings of the string around the tuner has broken the string on several occassions.

The only bass strings I can remember ever breaking are B strings.
Usually right at the saddle when trying to set a witness point on a bass that strings through body.

My 5s are older warwicks that require taper b strings. Yes I have broken one, at a show where we only played a couple songs.

I remember breaking a taper E that came on my 98 USA jazz bass (4), also at a gig. The string I most commonly break is the a string on a 4.

I saw Jason newsted break one at the LA forum back on the black album tour during his solo. Pretty sure it was the b. He was swinging the broken string around making it part of the show.

It happens

Got a last minute gig coming up next Friday. It will be the first time gigging with the 112 under the 200c. I had one gig over a year and a half ago with the rumble and an ampeg MC210e cab which I no longer own. Things have been very thin the last few years, but are looking up, now in 2 bands, one original one tribute. A cancelation at a former bands gig opened up the 7:30 slot, so I immediately tried the tribute band, it took 2 days for the drummer to confirm he was unable to get off work :bored: (he said he would know "tomorrow", was 10pm the following day when he let me know :rollno:)

The original band is way new, but they rose to the challenge so we are going to practice 2 times next week and knock it out.

Now I have to decide which 2 basses to bring. I have 2 newly acquired 90s peaveys, but I also have the flats on the P Bass, and still bright elixirs that came on the peavey foundation, on my jazz bass. I also put fresh NPS round core prestia strings on the peavey milestone II (p bass).

So the 4 basses in the running are:
98 USA jazz with elixirs
2000 USA precision with group III flats
90s peavey international milestone II with fresh DM NPS roundcores
90s peavey USA foundation vfr

Traditionally I would bring the J and P, but the Peaveys are new to me, and were purchased for " backup " basses.

I guess I have a couple of practices to figure it out, but I wonder what the rumble crew would do?
