Headphone Setup for Bass and Guitar to Play Together

I want to build a simple, portable, setup for me and my son to play together through headphones.

I play bass and he plays guitar. I would like for each of us to be able to control how loud the mix is on our own headphones. Extra points if we can control the mix between instruments for each headphone out.

I was thinking about one of these... Yamaha 6 Channel Mixer

Would I be able to get an adapter for the stereo outs to go to a second set of headphones?
We wouldn't be able to adjust the mix independently but we would be able adjust the overall level on each.

Is there a better way to do this?
Does the Yamaha sound any better than a Mackie or Behringer?

You can use this to play together and even record what you're doing. It has 4 separate mixes for headphones.

I have the L-12 for a few more channels for band rehearsal. We record everything we do to review and learn and write new songs.

One device. You can use some of the other channels for streaming play alongs, or a drum machine.

Probably not the cheapest, but it gives you individual mixes and can do a lot more.

A small mixer with separate aux sends can also do the same thing, but I really like the Zoom stuff.

Edit: I have no relation to the Zoom company. I wish I got their stuff for free.

A little more than that Yamaha you linked, but I'd get two of these:

Then set them up like this:

Then you'd have separate headphones and the ability to mix levels independently.

This is what I use at home, if you have an IPad GarageBand is free and you can connect the mixer to the IPad.
iPad not need at all but with an IPad and GarageBand you can use amp sims and have backing tracks or drums.
