Hello all. A couple of months ago I picked up one of those DIY 2 Band Stingray style preamps from a fellow TB'er. I believe it was made using one of those Uncle Fluffy boards. Anyway, I finally got around to installing it. I put it in one of my Stingray's using the stock pickup. I'm not too familiar with these, nor am I an electronics guru, but I was wondering if mine is functioning "normally". I never owned a 2 band Stingray before; only the more modern 3 bands. So, I'm hoping other, more experienced TB'ers can help shed some light.
It seems as though this preamp is very "bass heavy". Even with both the bass and treble controls turned completely down, the signal seems to be more bassy; very little to no treble. If I boost the bass to 10, it's EXTREMELY boomy. Much more extreme than the bass boosts in my other preamps. It seems as though I have to turn the treble knob up more than the bass to get somewhat of a more even or flat sound. Does that make any sense?
I don't know much about this preamp. However I do know that it has a 25k volume, C1M treble and 100k bass pot. The Ops amp is a LM4250. That's about all I know.
Maybe this IS how it's supposed to function. I just want to get some verification from those that are more experienced with these DIY Stingray EQs.
