My current bass has 4 knobs and 3 switches.
  • Volume
  • Volume
  • Mid
  • Bass/Treble Stack
  • Active Passive switch
  • 3 way mid selector
  • 3 way highs select
I don't want to drill holes, but here is what I would like to have
  • Volume/Tone (stack) - need tone to be both active and passive
  • Pickup selector (pan)
  • Mid
  • Bass/Treble Stack
  • Active Passive switch
  • 3 way mid selector
  • Maybe make the last switch series/parallel
Any thoughts?

I am not a modder... so this has been a tough thing for me to research.

On the other hand, I never thought I would encounter a modding question where at least 1/4 of TB didn't have a strong opinion! This must be a tougher question than I thought!

Control layout aside - what is your goal for the bass? Lots of dramatic tonal sweep, or subtle and transparent?

I would prefer subtle and transparent. Traditionally, I like my bass to be able to sound musical... I would prefer not to have "extreme" mids... for example.

The goal is to be able to get to tones quickly - thus the move from V/V to V/pan.

Preferably if I quickly want to adjust mids so I can be heard, I wouldn't want them to come out harsh... or if I cut for mid-scooped tone, I don't want it to be too lost.

I don't want harsh highs... but just the ability to add a little high end sparkle. Or remove highs for a more vintage tone.
