Hello everyone,

I'm currently GASing for this CIJ Fender Jazz Bass but I can't find any info on it. The guy says it's a 1993 Crafted in Japan, that is a 63 (? never heard of that?) Reissue. The serial number is Q024421.

From the picture I uploaded, there seems to be the 60's logo and the 60's pickup position. The guy doesn't seem to give too much details about it too..

I wish it would have been a 50th anniversary though ;)

Q + 6 numbers and Made In Japan would make it a 1993.
Q+6 digits and Crafted in Japan makes it a 2002-2004.

Does it have a Fender Special Edition at the back of the headstock?
Is the bridge PU in the 70's closer to the bridge position?

I estimate it is a FSR 70s Jazz Bass from 2002-2004. The matching headstock makes it a "Factory Special Run".
Maybe it is just the picture but the bridge looks like not-original. Maybe the Badass upgrade or something similar.

The picture isn't exactly sharp, but in regard of the TV-logo: all Fender 70s RIs - japanese or US made - had the smaller period incorrect TV-Logo Fender introduced about 1977.

There was a small series of FSR made in the US '70s basses during 2002 or 20003 that had the big TV Logo and a matching headstock, but only about 250 were made:

SOLD - 2002 Fender USA FSR 75RI Jazz Bass- Candy Apple Red- Matching Headstock- 1 of 250

Just since the introduction of the new American Vintage Series in 2013 the US-Version - now called '74 Jazz - has the large TV logo. Maybe some of the MIJ Fenders of the last years have it too.

Very nice instruments, I have one from 1996 without a matching headstock. They still had the cheaper electronics and japanese ceramic pickups, but apart from this: very nice ash bodies and you have to love those japanese necks. Mine is very lightweight for an ash body. Changed the PUs to CS 60s but left the electronics as they were. Have an all original US '78 Fender Jazz to compare it too...
