I scored on Craigslist with some gear hoping I can get some assistance from those with software that can tell me the correct port length needed for this driver.

Deets:
Gauss 4583a 15" woofer
fs 31hz
Qms 2.5
Qes .33
Qts .30
Vas 10.00

Enclosure 4 cf internal volume
two 4" round ports.

Current port length is 5 " but I can change the length, just need to know the best length to realize the best results for a 5 string bass.

Be conservative with that driver. It's quite robust, but factory parts are no longer available and the few aftermarket parts are pretty crappy for those drivers. They do not use standard parts of any type, and use a double spider with a spacer (if I am remembering the model correctly).

Andy what do you think this driver is worth? From the looks of it it's in good condition.

They seem to sell for between $100-$200 on ebay, though it's all about finding somebody who needs one (generally for a repair or refurbishment or shelf stock)

The problem is that there are MUCH better drivers available today, with repair parts available as well. They are also difficult to recone, I've only done a couple and that was decades ago. Weight is another big issue.

I think you need to define best. It kinda depends on having a HPF available as to what you can get away with. I like to have some 60hz available although I don't always use it.

I guess there are not enough parameters provided to tune by numbers so you might have to tune by ear and eye. You can bounce rice on the cone with low volume sinewaves to find Fb. The rice sits down.

Adjust port length to suit.

blah blah blah

the cabinet is tuned to 44/46Hz
with current port length

And is more than ideal for bass use.
power handling is typical of the evm or jbl drivers used in that large of volume 4 cubic feet being on the larger size. deeper bass less power handling. common sense applys

he already provided the air space and port length all that's needed to calculate fb.

this cabinet is obviously designed for a
jbl driver since jbl recommends 4 cubic feet at 46Hz for d, k or e series drivers.

And if the ports are adjustable for jbl or
evm ddrivers Then the ports are probably tuned higher to 50/55Hz
or to 44/46 same tuning the tl 606
which has adjustable ports but more
ideal volume for the evm driver at 3 cubic. not rocket science or based on opinions. 3 or 4 cubic feet low tune for musical instrument, high tune for pa.
And evm classic tl 606 is 3 cubic at 46Hz. no magic to be found here lol. just about every suitable 15" speaker for bass is gonna be fine in 3 or 4 cubic feet at 44/46 Hz cabinet fb

big box = more bass, less power handling
small box= less bass, more power handling

gradulations It's nice box and will work great.
