Help on Traveler Bass mod.

I am looking for suggestions to add a thumb rest on my Traveler Guitar brand bass. The pup is small and slightly farther forward than I would like. I like the position around where the E tuner is (rear top) and was thinking just behind that. I have one idea from the local shop but bthought I'd throw this out to see about interesting/better ideas. Thanks!

Bend some 3/16 stainless steel rod to desired shape, pound the ends flat and drill to match the screw hole locations in the pick guard: the high by the tuner, and the bridge screw. File it down on the ends to make it purdy and polish it up. You may need a longer pan head screw for each location.

I'd still use oval head screws, with the tapered underside, if you counter sink the holes properly they will still trap the thumb rest and prevent rattling/vibration. Pan head screws, unless you are able to crank down on it, may not prevent that.

Another possibility is a third control knob, to match the others, cut down in height if desired, and glued on top of a stud.

Cool bottle cap! To neatly fasten it on there, try this: With the bottle cap face down, fill the back of it with epoxy, right up to the rim. After it's cured, run a file over it to make the epoxy flat and take the sharp points off the edge. Then fasten it to the body with a circle of double-sided tape. There's enough surface area that it should have plenty of strength. Plus you could move it or remove it later without any damage to the paint.

Bruce, I went all in on this. Took a piece of wood and shaped it so the cap would fit snug and be the same hight as my Jazz PU and screwed it into place. I then glued the cap onto the wood. So far so good.

Note : the cap came off so I drilled small holes in the piece of wood that i attached to the bass. Now I I am trying JB Weld. I think that plus roughing up the underside of the cap and removing all of the coating it should stay.
