Hi all,

I'm in the process of wiring a DIY hollowbody ES-style bass and am having problems with the pickups (humbuckers). It's standard 2P/2T/3-way switch wiring. The bridge pots work fine but in the middle or neck position of the switch there is no sound whatsoever.

This isn't my first build but I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to electronics so any help/suggestions would be much appreciated

That's not much information to go on...but my best guess is the there's a short circuit (a hot wire making electrical contact to ground/earth) on the neck pickup side. An open circuit would cause mains hum and buzz through the amplifier...

Without ohm meter readings or clear photos of your wiring harness all I can do is guess. Perhaps you can get an "inspection mirror" and look at the wiring inside the guitar to see if there are any crossed wires.

Thanks for your reply, I'll post some photos later if I can't solve it.
