Hi everyone,

First post here.

I have an old Washburn XB-125 active 5-string bass; not long after I bought it, the active circuitry fried. After all this years, I want to fix it. Since it is encased in some case of resin, I suppose that I have a new preamp set. But I have trouble finding what to buy.

The bass has three pots: one for volume, one for balance and the the third one is push-pull and controls tone also. I want everything changed, so my question is: what do I have to search for? I mean, what's the correct name for this kit or parts?

I know nothing about repairs, so I'm sorry if this is a stupid question to ask.

Thanks in advance.

Don’t know if they are still showing up, but an ebay seller used to list a bunch of different Washburn bass and guitar preamps.

you can pretty much do whatever you want, so you really have to decide.

if you want it passive you can take out the preamp and just have it wired vol/vol/tone or vol/blend/tone

if you want another preamp, decide what you want. do you want active and passive capabilities via a switch or push/pull pot? 2 or 3 band?

I personally would choose one of these two:

HR-3.3AP/918 | Bartolini Pickups and Electronics

HR-3.4/918 | Bartolini Pickups and Electronics
Haven't considered rewiring...sounds like a good choice for me. Thanks!
