no, you don't want that.I've narrowed my choice of stand down to the GS405B or GS414.
What I like about the GS405 is that it is supported from the bottom as well as the top.
Still, I wish the GS405B neck area hook was made to support wider neck basses. The GS405B really shines with a headless instrument. The neck area hooks around to make sure an instrument can't easily be dislodged. It's not foolproof, but it is fool-resistant.
the thing about stands like this is that whether the top part "locks" or not the whole thing can still be very easily knocked over. you also have the issue of that bottom fork getting flipped over, if somebody then sets a guitar on it like that it'll slide off.Still, I wish the GS405B neck area hook was made to support wider neck basses.
Even a cheap, almost similar but not so reliable, unknown brand stand, could be used with my 7 string bass:

i guess for a big ol' 7-string (or headless) neck you'd want something that just cradles the body from underneath, like this:

these are at least stable and have no removable parts to get lost.
my complaint here is it can sometimes be a problem trying to leave the instrument plugged in, the cable can tangle in the hooks and the plug is sometimes right in the way. also, on a dark stage those black, hard-to-see hooks are at just the right height to get stepped on
Has anyone used a GS 414B with a headless 4-string bass with a 40mm nut width? Thanks.
