I've got $400 from a J Bass that I sold on Ebay, I sold it because it never got played, and I've really been wanting to purchase a new Warmoth neck for one of my other J Basses. That said Warmoth neck would cost me just over $500, of course that neck would be EXACTLY what I want in terms of feel and looks. Then I thought about the Sire Bass that I would also love to have ($699) and thought to myself 'WHAT ARE YOU CRAZY?' (with a little more O/T and saving)

I could have a Brand new AMAZING Sire Bass (Tobacco burst w/blocks) OR, I can buy this Warmoth neck. Well, I made up my mind and chose to ...

I keep coming back and drooling over this picture drool:)

... pull the trigger on the Warmoth Precision neck with the slim(mer) profile, pearloid blocks, cream colored binding w/black side dots/markers and the Fender Vintage (lower/smaller) frets (nickel); then I can finish my all Gold hardware J Bass when I add the tuners, neck plate and string tree; It's gonna be Sick!:woot:

Hey OP, you didn't mention what you want to put the new neck on (unless I missed it).

If it's a Fender of good quality I would ditch the plans to buy an entry level bass like the Sire. I've played a few of these and I don't see what the hype is...they are entry level basses at best. Why get a cheap copy of the original when you can mod an already good bass (assuming it is) with a neck specifically made for you?

Good luck with the decision.
