Hi, was just looking about for some reviews for the Viking and stumbled on this and thought "why not!"

Anyone got any thoughts on the Hagstrom? I can't find a lot of reviews or any UK stockists so have bitten the bullet and I'm excitedly waiting for mine to arrive in black from Germany.

Wondered if anyone knew of anything I should look forward to or be aware of when I get it out of the box!

I'd appreciate any feed back. Cheers.

Cool. I should have it in the next couple of days, I'll let you know what I think. Always been a Fender Precision boy up to now so it's a bit of a leap for me. What I'm playing now is a bit more relaxed, both in style and schedule, and it'll probably be he last new bass I buy, unless I come into some proper money.

Welcome to TalkBass! I haven't played one of the new ones yet, but I love the old vintage Hagstrom's, and as a short scale fan, am interested in their Viking bass.
So, had a couple of weeks and first of all, I love it. It looks awesome and sounds great with a huge range of sound from the 6 position switch.

It plays lovely once you get used to the very jazzy neck and short scale. Over all build is great; it just got knocked over at rehearsal by our ukulele player (!) and bounced back, in tune, no harm done, all good (but I'm not telling him that until after the pub...).

Criticisms? Not really. Observations? A couple. When you pick it up it feels solid and centred but put it on a strap, and if you're like me quite a long one, very head heavy.

That six position switch; works great but a littleon the flimsy side perhaps in the long term.

But hey, I am very happy. My new favorite bass for everything so...

Anything anyone wants to ask, just ask!

I'm wondering, where is the viking bass made? China?
Also, on the www it said that it's made of plywood, is it true??
