Hiatus Kaiyote - Nakamarra (Bass Cover) w/ Notation Transcription [Paul Bender]

whoo! I love this song. Any tips on replicating the bass tone? I have a zoom b3 playing through passive humbuckers if that helps.

Honestly, your tone/sound has a lot more to do with how you use your fingers than your gear.
For this kind rounder sound, groovy, neo-soul kind of thing I always think of playing softer with your right hand. Left hand muting is also a very useful technique to keep your bass sound tamed.

Of course the gear can make it or break it.
In terms of EQ and compression you can try playing with taking some treble out and compress it a bit.
I always follow my hear to find the sound I want for each particular tune, I don't really have a formula.

With that said, I hope I answered your question :)

Will try the compression thing. Bass tone on nakamarra sounds more lo-fi and fuzzy(radio kind, not overdrive) than most of their other tunes, so I was specifically asking about that :)

Haven't read a music notation sheet in years.. Guess the best time to start is now :)
