from Ernie ball:
Thanks for playing Music Man!
The SUB series instruments were released in January of 2003 and discontinued on September 15, 2006.
The idea was to offer a USA made instrument at a lower price point. Hence the finish type which did not require sanding/buffing. The tuning keys were not German made Schaller's like we used on StingRays at the time. The bride and neck plates were not etched with the Music Man or serialized.
2003 SUB StingRay Winter NAMM
2003 SUB Sterling Bass April
2003 SUB StingRay 5 Summer NAMM
2004 SUB 1 Guitars Winter NAMM
Body wood: Poplar
Neck: Maple
Fretboard: Rosewood
Frets: Nickel
Pickups: Music Man
Electronics; active or passive versions
Finish: Textured polyester
