Hofner shorty violin?

Well, I pulled the trigger (why do we always use gun/weapon metaphors? "Axes"? "Arsenal"?)... Anyhoo, when I get it, I'll review it for anyone who might be curious. I was in the market for a travel bass, and this is just too adorable.

It's growing on me. Happy to see a Hofner logo on the headstock, which wasn't visible on the Thomann page. It's a little thing that IMHO lends it some bona fides.

I took "shorty" even further; RondoMusic in New Hampshire imports a Chinese made Hofner knock-off named Hadean, 20" scale, 31" long, with saddle piezo pickup. Since I only play bass ukes/mini bass guitars, it's perfect for me. It was a refurb, $169 down from $239. I replaced the tailpiece with a Hofner look-alike, the tuners with chrome and pearl to match the pickguard, the truss rod cover with pearl, and pot knobs with pearl caps. I also added Kala/Galli 20.5" scale flatwound nylon core strings. It's great fun.

Yes, I know I look like Jabba the Hutt. Be nice. Just first impressions of the Hofner Shorty Travel bass, violin style. Playing through a (not great) Joyo MA 10-B amp (not MA 108 as I mistakenly say in the video). Will make better video later when I'm near a better amp.

Thank you Mary! That was a beautiful review and nice Beatles basslines too. Enjoy your new bass!
